Too Much Information

Here's another of my favorite songs/videos from the Fab Five.  For some reason it hasn't made it into any official releases (that I'm aware of) so the video quality isn't what it should be.  But it does have Nick with the lavender hair.

First, enjoy the most painfully & beautifully British voice ever.

Painfully British, in a different way...

Please enjoy one of my favorite songs by Duran Duran.  I seem to forget about it frequently, but then a few months later I'll remember it and wonder how I could forget about it.   It always seems to cheer me up, reminding me that I shouldn't take life so seriously.  It's hard advice to take even when "the whole world is getting used.  That's just the way it is".  But dude, if you don't lighten up you'll die of a heart attack at 30.  Not fun, my friends.  Not fun.

Info on the song... it's a little known gem off their dismal "Liberty" album that came out in the early 90's, but that I still really enjoy part of.  Listen to the first half and forget the second.  One of my favorite parts is the middle instrumental part.  It fairly shines.

Once

I have to give props to the Oscars for actually getting something right last night.  They gave Frames frontman Glen Hansard the Oscar for the amazing Falling Slowly.  My husband, who's becoming ever more and more "lefty" really dug his closing comment: "Make art."  What a great sentiment.  I loved his acceptance speech.  Here it is:

Thanks! This is amazing. What are we doing here? This is mad.  We made this film two years ago.  We shot on two Handycams.  It took us three weeks to make.  We made it for a hundred grand.  We never thought we would come into a room like this and be in front of you people.  It's been an amazing thing.  Thanks for taking this film seriously, all of you.  It means a lot to us.  Thanks to the academy, thanks to all the people who've helped us, they know who they are, we don't need to say them.  This is amazing.  Make art.  Make art.  Thanks.

The most painfully British band ever

James.  James is awesome in all kinds of ways.  Here is their opening song from the album Laid.  It's haunting, heartbreaking, and amazing.
